At The Last Supper, weāre always up for something a little unexpected ā so we recently hosted a lunch centred entirely around high-end tinned mussels, paired with thoughtfully selected drinks from around the world (and just down the road).
Hereās what was on the tasting table
š¦šŗ Little Tin Co Smoked Mussels (Port Lincoln, SA)
Paired with:Ā NV Sittella Sparkling Chenin Blanc Brut
Smoky, rich, and proudly South Australian ā perfectly balanced by bubbles and citrus brightness.
šµš¹ Cabo de PeƱas Mussels in Escabeche (Portugal)
Paired with:Ā Thistledown Gorgeous Grenache Blanc
Zingy vinegar and spice met its match in this lemony, floral South Australian white.
šŖšø JosĆ© Gourmet Fried Mussels in Marinade (Spain)
Paired with: 2024 Sittella Avant-Garde Albariño
Juicy, garlicky mussels found a perfect partner in this textured and fresh WA AlbariƱo.
š©š° Fangst BlĆ„musling No. 1 (Denmark)
Paired with:Ā Sin Gin Aquavit
Dill and fennel flavours in both the mussels and spirit made for a bold, botanical finish to the feast.
The event was low-key, delicious, and full of surprises ā proving once again that seafood in a tin can be anything but ordinary.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this flavour-packed lunch!

These look absolutely delicious! Iām trying to find the specific brand of mussels you used in the second photo (the yellow tin?). I tried clicking the supplier link in the footer, but on my mobile, it kept redirecting me to random pages like https://levelupcasino.com/Ā instead of the shop? Might be a broken link or just my phone acting up. Would love to know the brand name so I can look for them at my local deli!
