Holm Oak 2024 Arneis

Winery: Holm Oak Vineyards, Tamar Valley

Nestled in Tasmania's Tamar Valley, Holm Oak Vineyards is a family-owned estate known for its hands-on, sustainable approach to winemaking. Led by Bec and Tim Duffy, the winery has earned a reputation for crafting wines that offer a playful twist on traditional varietals. In their 2024 Arneis, they've taken this rare northern Italian grape and added a distinct Tasmanian touch.

Sinapus is a boutique Tasmanian producer that’s redefining how we think about Chardonnay. With an emphasis on minimal intervention, Sinapus focuses on showcasing the unique terroir of their vineyards—some of which feature densely planted vines, spaced unusually close together. This technique mimics the traditional methods used in Burgundy, encouraging natural competition among vines for nutrients, leading to more concentrated, flavour-packed fruit.

  • Aroma: A lifted bouquet of white peach, lemon curd, toasted almond, and a touch of struck match.

Iron Pot Bay Gewürztraminer 2017

Winery: Iron Pot Bay Vineyard, Tamar Valley

Located in the picturesque township of Rowella, Iron Pot Bay Vineyard is a family-run estate that’s been making waves with its expressive, cool-climate wines. Winemaker Ashli Mani and her mother Julieanne Mani work together to produce wines that reflect their commitment to sustainability, hand-picking, and hand-pruning. Their 2017 Gewürztraminer is a prime example of how cool-climate conditions can create wines with both elegance and intensity.

  • Visual: Deep gold with a slight copper tint—indicating age and richness.

  • Aroma: Intensely floral, with notes of rose petals, lychee, Turkish delight, orange rind, and warm baking spices.
